Several months ago I read the book "The Undaunted" about the hole-in-the-rock pioneers. I was amazed at what they went through to come to Bluff and settle in this country. I have ancestors that were some of the first to settle Monticello. They did not come with the hole in the rock group. But they were also determined people. They would have had to have an enduring spirit about them to be able to come to a place as hard as this area was to settle. I admire them for being able to accomplish their goal and settle this area. As I read the book, I would ask Jim if he knew where such places were. He seems to know where everything is in San Juan County from his job. I told him when I was reading the book that I wanted to visit Salvation knoll. So today we went to visit Salvation Knoll. We also went to Blanding to Edge of the Cedars Museum. It was a very interesting day, one I enjoyed very much.

A visit to Salvation Knoll, San Juan County, Utah

Dog and Cat...together!
Our dog, Brutus and one of our many cats, Lookin' high, seem to actually like each other. Their love probably stems from the need to stay warm as it has been exceptionally cold the last few days. They love to sit on the hot tub cover, again because it is warm. If they need to share heat then that is what they do, even if it goes against their instincts to fight with each other. It usually doesn't last too long, once they get warmed up the fighting and chasing begins!

Someone is NOT sick of the snow!

Before and after
Jim cleared more SNOW from our back deck. Our grill was burried under that mountain of snow. Jim wanted T-bone steak for dinner and I refused to cook it inside because it stinks up the house for days. He used the snowblower that he was so happy we bought last fall. Thankfully we have several "snow" removal implements that helped us with snow removal this year. More snow is expected today! Don't put that snowblower away yet!!!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day Easter Egg!
Another day of suprises with Benjamin Franklin Haller! On Friday morning, very early, probably between the hours of six and seven, Benjamin woke up and decided that he would make something. His mom and dad were still steeping in their bed...sound asleep. Benjamin got up into the Easter egg dye kit and decided to dye some Easter eggs. He mixed the dye, yes, a four year old can actually mix the dye. He went to the fridge and got out the eggs and dyed four of the five eggs we had. He did all of the mixing and dying under the table. His dad got up at about seven o'clock and found him and the eggs. Dad and Ben cleaned up what they could and dad put the eggs back into the fridge for a suprise for mom. When I got up, Jim showed me the pink colored eggs. I was a little confused and asked if he had boiled them and dyed them for Valentine's day. When Jim and I celebrated our first Valentine's day together ten years ago, I made him a dozen hard boiled, decorated, pink eggs. That was what he wanted for his gift. It has come full circle and was a fun, and messy reminder of our first Valentine's day together. I didn't yell at Ben for getting a little dye on the carpet and just tried to realize maybe these weird things happen for a reason. We all had a good laugh and Jim and I realize that our little boy can do much more than we give him credit for. We are both amazed at what he can do!

Hair disaster at the Haller home
I never think these kind of things are going to happen to us. They always happen to someone else. I know they happen quite a bit to OTHERS! I somehow think they will not happen to us but then they DO. I must be in denial that we are somehow different. These kind of incidents bring me back to reality! Yep, Benjamin cut his own hair. Three large chunks out of the top of the head. Nothing gets a mom off the couch as fast as her child presenting himself to her with as he said his "perfect hair". I cut the hair over his ears this morning and he got out the comb this evening and asked me if his hair looked good to which I said yes as I was trying to watch the news on TV. A few minutes later and disaster, I am only glad that he didn't cut himself as the scissors that he used are very sharp and made to cut hair. WOW, we are lucky that it was only hair that got cut. As he realized that his hair was gone and he was missing a huge chunk of hair and that it didn't look "perfect" anymore he cried and asked if we could glue his hair back. Nop, I had to get out the clippers and try to fix the disaster. It looks ok but people will probably wonder who did such a bad job cutting his hair. I love these pictures after all it was funny in a "perfect" sort of way.

Dear John

This much awaited movie lived up to the hype. Benjamin and I went to visit with the Singers and my mom, sisters and friend for a girls night. The girls went to the movie and Spencer stayed home and watched his 2 boys and baby and Benjamin too. Benjamin and Isley had so much fun playing together. Thanks Spencer and to the Singers for letting us stay and make a huge mess with all the toys. We very much enjoyed our trip. Al was especially excited as Channing Tatum was HOT~ Sweet dreams and happy birthday to Al Singer! Love you all and can't wait for the next movie...Eclipse in June!
